Angelfish

Angelfish is a description that describes approximately 100 separate types of species of fish. There are freshwater angelfish and there are marine angelfish. These fish are the inhabitants of the waters found in the southern hemisphere. The freshwater angelfish are most commonly found in South America in its freshwater rivers. The marine angelfish are found in the saltwater of the oceans. If one ever goes on one of the Bahamas Snorkel Tours they are very likely to spot an angelfish.

All angelfish are carnivores. The freshwater type of angelfish feed on invertebrates and smaller fish. The marine angelfish feed on small species of prawn and shrimp. Angelfish both preyed upon by several animals like other fish, sharks, mammals and birds.

This fish is a very colorful fish due to a mutation in the standard coloring that occurred. This mutation lead to breeders of the angelfish to begin to become creative with making a variety of different beautiful colors. One of the newest being a fish named the Phillipine Blue. It has a collaboration of different shades of blues. The colors found on angelfish commonly include black, orange, green, blue, yellow and purple.

Though the freshwater and marine angelfish are both called angelfish, they are stated to not be closely related. The freshwater angelfish are believed to be one of the members of the quite large Cichlid fish family. Freshwater angelfish grows on average to be approximately six inches in length. Most of the freshwater fish are considered tropical species. These fish are triangle shaped and prefer cleaner waters.

Freshwater angelfish can lay anywhere between one hundred and one thousand eggs when they lay eggs. These eggs usually hatch within two days of being laid. The eggs are normally laid on either an underwater log or a flat leaf.

The marine angelfish are widely known for their bright colors that change as they get older. Their body shape changes with age as well. This fish is said to be related to the butterfly fish. They are said to be a fearless animal and curious to any divers that they may come into contact with. A diver that may be on the Bahamas Snorkel Tours are likely to experience an angelfish interaction.

The marine angelfish lay their eggs completely different from the freshwater angelfish. These fish lay their eggs directly into the water. The eggs float in the seas and commonly become mixed in with the plankton of the sea until they hatch.

The freshwater and marine angelfish are quite challenging to care for in home aquariums. These fish react to any drastic changes in the ph or salt level in an aquarium. These changes may cause the fish to die as result of them occurring.

Angelfish are a very unique aquatic animal. The shape and the coloring make them rank high up on the list of beautiful underwater animals. Even though they are stated hard to care for, they are found in the aquariums of homes all over the world.
